• Was just here to comment on King Island Grannular! They don't have the facilities of some other resorts, but the courses are magnificent challenges, and King Island itself is like stepping into another world - well worth a couple more days exploring if one has time (and the local 9 hole golf cour...

  • There has been a million different versions of the 'Orient Express' name and use over time, with a wide variety. It is most definitely a 'generic name' applied to many trains over the time - this is a great summary: https://www.seat61.com/history-of-the-orient-express.htmSo there is not 1&nb...

  • To be fair Darwin - Alice was never built primarily as a passenger line, so fares on that aren't a good comparator as it is only a luxury train provider operating. No idea about how freight costs and usage of the line is these days (the real reason to extend it). But the cost of building it was w...

  • This is not a criticism of your comment - your entitled to your view. But your comment exactly illustrates why generally it is so hard now to do any really big government megaprojects in Australia. The obsession with 'what do I get out of it' scuttles almost anything that is a big picture project ...

  • Glad to see Virgin has achieved some form of 'product' for the CBR-SYD network. I actually don't think its a bad alignment between the two companies, and wonder if they are exploring some broader link up perhaps too - LINK has some interesting connections in its network, and I've flown with them ...

This was flagged at least a month ago in a previous email. I have no idea what the 10 days is about, but they did give some forewarning.

  • What will Virgin look like now?

It's hard to know, but what we all know is we need two strong competing airlines in Australia - not one. Even a shorter term 12-24 months in which there is only one would do immeasurable damage imho and should be avoided at all costs.None of this is to say Virgin hasn't been optimally managed - t...
