Virgin Australia unleashes new Double Status Credits promo
Jul 25, 2023, 03:43 PMThere's nothing in the T&Cs that says that you have to book through Virgin. I have certainly received double status credits from previous promotions when I booked (and got the discount) through American Express Platinum Travel.

AMEX slashes Singapore, Emirates rates, adds Qatar Airways
Jul 04, 2023, 03:06 PMA Velocity-Avios transfer would be wonderful for the consumer but I suspect it's wishful thinking. As for American Express issuing a Mastercard or Visa, they're competing brands so it'll never happen unless one buys out the other.

AMEX slashes Singapore, Emirates rates, adds Qatar Airways
Jul 04, 2023, 03:01 PM"Singapore have already tripled the points for an award flight...".This is incorrect. The most recent devaluation last year increased award flights by about 15-20%. For example, a business class "Saver" award between Australia's east coast and Europe increased from 116,000 points to 130,000 point...

Qantas confirms flights from new Western Sydney airport
Jun 08, 2023, 09:21 PMI did write that 10% of AUSTRALIA’s population lives in Western Sydney. The figures you’ve given confirm that. And yes, I frequently travel to Sydney from Melbourne and stay on the upper North Shore. Unless I’m in a real hurry, and when I’m travelling alone, I’l...

Cathay Pacific reward their members after COVID with a significant hike in pr...
Jul 07, 2023, 04:47 PMThat's a horrible devaluation, especially given that availability is close to zero (so much for the CEO's promise to double the number of reward seats available). It is worth noting, however, that even with this devaluation, Cathay will still charge significantly fewer points for long-haul flights...

Last year I flew Singapore out of Amsterdam; we were told to use the Aspire Lounge but there was a separate area for Singapore Airlines passengers, with its own food and even a dedicated staff member. Sorry to burst your bubble b...

Anyone have a clue?
Jun 19, 2023, 10:38 AMOriginally Posted by vhojm Its not a glitch and it also isn't an any seat award. It is dynamic award pricing which is seen often on partner airlines. Cathay Premium Economy awards are often the same price as business class when there is high demand for that cabin. The any seat award for business ...

Anyone have a clue?
Jun 18, 2023, 07:33 PMI'm seeing it too (compare Classic Reward Business and First prices, for example, on October 2 [164800 for Business Classic Reward], October 4 [104,500 for a Business Classic Reward] and October 5 [149,800 for a First Classic Reward]). I can only assume that the 164800 figure is a glitch, as that...

Horrible meal
May 26, 2023, 01:02 PMI dunno, Rod. I mean, this rant may be justified but as a rant it simply doesn't attain the hights of your unforgettable "Pies in VA Business Class" rant from a couple of years ago. I'm a little disappointed...
