The chance of securing a business class ‘throne’ to Singapore is now a little easier thanks to these added flights.

Singapore Airlines adds more weekly flights to Cairns

Singapore Airlines is giving travellers two more reasons to jet off between Singapore and Cairns from this week, adding an extra two flights between the Asian metropolis and Tropical North Queensland hub. This brings total connections to five per week.

Taking wing on the Boeing 737 MAX 8 – crowned with lie-flat business class beds – the 7-hour hop now departs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

  • SQ204 bids farewell to Cairns at 6:20pm, and touches down at Changi at 11:05pm
  • On the return, SQ203 sees wheels up from Singapore at 8:40am and arrives at 5:20pm

On top of free WiFi for every passenger and seat back video screens (a feature notably missing on partner Virgin Australia’s newly-delivered MAX 8 aircraft), the jet sports a sophisticated business class cabin where the 10 spacious seats convert into fully flat beds.

The seats convert into a fully lie-flat bed measuring 1.93m (76”).

Two of those are solo ‘throne’ seats where travellers enjoy added privacy and personal space.

Other creature comforts include a 16" HD video screen plus AC and USB ports within easy reach; passengers will also enjoy Singapore Airlines’ signature in-flight dining experience.

While Cairns currently lacks a Star Alliance lounge for frequent flyers and business class passengers, those flying out of Singapore can take advantage of the airline’s T3 SilverKris business class lounge, which opened back in November 2021.

The SilverKris business lounge is perched on the upper level of Changi Terminal 3.

Changi isn’t just a haven for high flyers, however: Gold status holders travelling in premium or economy are in for a treat as well, with a fresh KrisFlyer Gold lounge accompanying the reveal of the two new first class lounges.

Boosted flights to Cairns are a sign of renewed confidence from the Star Alliance member, with a Singapore Airlines’ spokesperson noting the carrier is seeing stronger demand for flights to destinations across Australia, South East Asia, and other parts of East Asia.

In addition to its newly-boosted Cairns schedule, Singapore Airlines recently added a second daily A380 to Sydney, while also subbing out the Boeing 777 on daily Melbourne flights SQ228 and SQ237 for a superjumbo until the end of October.

Just use the Virgin lounge in Cairns - the one with all the people in it on their way to/back from Tokyo.

Oh wait.....
