First look: Singapore Airlines’ new Perth lounge

Singapore Airlines will open a new business class lounge at Perth Airport’s T1 international terminal, moving out of it’s longstanding cramped quarters and into the space formerly occupied by the now-shuttered Qantas International Business lounge.

The shift will mean more than twice as much room for Singapore-bound flyers, with seating for some 140 passengers; Singapore Airlines will also retain the shower suites of the previous Qantas lounge into the bargain.

A Singapore Airlines spokesman confirmed its plans to Executive Traveller, adding that the all-new SilverKris Perth lounge should open before year’s end.

As a bonus, its location opposite gate 52 will make the Singapore Airlines lounge a neighbour of the Air New Zealand lounge – as is the case in Sydney – in turn making it easier for business class flyers and top-tier frequent flyers to use either or both of these Star Alliance lounges before their flight.

And as you’d expect, this new SilverKris Perth lounge will sport a new look, adopting the latest iteration of Singapore Airlines’ ‘home away from home’ concept most recently seen in the fresh SilverKris lounges at Changi Airport T3.

Executive Traveller understands key features will include

  • an expansive open design with greater variety of seating
  • a relaxed palette of colours and materials
  • a ‘live’ cooking station
  • a larger self-serve buffet area and bar
  • work-friendly ‘productivity’ pods
  • showers

“Building a brand-new lounge in Perth will deliver an enhanced travel experience and reinforces our commitment to the Perth market,” explains Louis Arul, Singapore Airlines’ Regional Vice President South West Pacific.

“The decision to acquire a new space to build the lounge allows us to minimise the disruption to our customers during the development phase and once work is complete, allows for a seamless transition to the new space.”

As before, access to Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Perth lounge will be open to

  • business class passengers on Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand and other Star Alliance airlines
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members, and Star Alliance Gold members
  • Virgin Australia Velocity Gold, Platinum and Beyond members
Singapore Airlines currently runs three Boeing 787 flights per day between Perth and Singapore, and will add four more flights per week across the peak travel period from 24 November 2023 to 14 January 2024.
