Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is well known for its portfolio of Cathay Pacific lounges, including flagship The Pier First – but hidden out of sight is a impressive private lounge for high-worth individuals, corporate leaders and celebrities.
Welcome to a rare look inside the exclusive HKIA VIP Lounge.
Tucked way on a nondescript side road nestled between Terminal 1 and the adjacent Regal Hotel, the Hong Kong airport VIP Lounge lets the well-heeled avoid the hustle and bustle of the terminal.
In the VIP Lounge’s refined space, jet-setters can check in for their flights and enjoy an à la carte meal matched with fine wines and Champagnes.
It’s a relatively recent addition to the Hong Kong loungescape, being opened in October 2022 after the space was reclaimed from an assortment of airline office space.
The elegant fit-out strikes a tone of understated luxury, with warm organic tones adding to a serene, calming aesthetic.
Highlights of the à la carte menu include Australian wagyu beef and organic sea bass, with Moet & Chandon Champagne – although visitors can upgrade their bubbles to Louis Roederer Cristal 2002 for HKD$5,640 (USD$720).
In addition to the open lounge area, travellers can book one of six private Premiere Suites – each with its own own dining room, bathroom and shower.
Topping it all off is a private ‘shopping boutique’ suite where guests can be met by a concierge representing premium brands from the airport’s retail stories for clothing, shoes, bags, watches, jewellery and accessories.
When time comes to board your flight, there’s no need to queue up with other passengers: the HKIA VIP Lounge has its own dedicated security & customs lane, with a fleet of black Tesla S limousines quietly and efficiently whisking you from the VIP lounge to your boarding gate.
Arriving passengers can also book the VIP lounge, with lounge staff authorised to collect any checked luggage on your behalf and bring it straight to the lounge.
And the cost of this five-star pre-flight experience?
HKIA charges HKD$5,000 (USD$640) per passenger for a three-hour stay in its VIP Lounge; groups of three or more travellers are recommended a private suite for HKD$18,000 (USD$2,300).
Use of the boutique shopping suite is complimentary, as long as customers spend at least HKD$10,000 (USD$1,280) during their spree.
Frequent travellers can subscribe to annual VIP Lounge membership.
Prices start from HKD$32,000 (USD$4,100) for four entires per year as a Gold member, to HKD$325,000 (USD$41,700) as a Sapphire member with unlimited use of the lounge plus five complimentary upgrades to a Premiere Suite.
Corporate packages allow VIP lounge access shared between five executives, with 40 visits per year at HKD$160,000 (USD$20,500) to HKD$520,000 (USD$66,000) for an unlimited number of entries per year.
